The Charms of Corner  Tables for the Kitchen

There are several different types of corner tables. Some are simply small occasional tables that fit into a corner. Any square or rectangular table can be used as a corner table if it is put into one. Then, there are the corner nook tables. They each have their own charms.

Find a great corner table
Small tables are often completely triangular. Sometimes they have the two angular sides that touch the corner, with a curved side that faces out. These tables are ideal for pictures or small kitchen clocks. They dress up a room without subtracting much from the usable space.

You can find them at furniture stores, auctions – both online and locally, and for sale by individuals. You can get luxurious Queen Anne versions, or you can get inexpensive rustic ones. You should decide what kind of small table you want based upon the décor of your kitchen.

Sometimes people make corner tables of any table that will fit. They put larger square or rectangular tables up against a corner. This may cut down on the seating space, but you may not need it. If you are a couple with no children, you can sit comfortably at the two exposed sides of the table.

Using any square or rectangular table as a corner kitchen table allows more room for items stored on the table. If you have little cabinet space, you might store boxes of cereal or flour and sugar canisters on the table. In small kitchens, corner tables like this are convenient.

When most people think of these tables, though, they think of corner nooks. These usually have an L-shaped bench going on two sides of a rectangular table. Then, there will be two free-standing benches for the other two sides of the table.

These tables in nook arrangements often have benches with storage. You just lift up the seat of the bench, and there will be a place to store tablecloths, napkins, dishtowels, and any other items you want to keep in the kitchen.

In homes with nook  tables, there is usually a regular dining table as well. This gives two distinct areas for people to sit. If you have a large family gathering, you could put the younger members of the family at the comfortable nook table. Then, the dining table would be reserved for the adult members of the family.
